About the Vantage
Where the DB11 is a grand tourer, the Vantage is a sports car, and Aston Martin made no attempt to blur the two. It sits on a shortened version of the same bonded aluminium platform, with the engine set well back, a much shorter wheelbase, and a wide, low body with a full-width front grille that drew comment on launch precisely because it is not decorous.
The 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 makes 510 PS and 685 Nm, and unlike the DB11 the Vantage gets an electronic limited-slip differential — an Aston first — which can go from fully open to fully locked in 135 milliseconds. Combined with the short wheelbase and 50:50 weight distribution, it makes the car genuinely playful in a way no previous Vantage was.
It is the harder-riding, louder, more focused Aston. On the Karak or a Sepang track day it is in its element; in Bukit Bintang traffic it is firm but liveable.
