About the XC90
The XC90 was the car that relaunched Volvo under Geely ownership, and it did so by refusing to compete on the terms the Germans had set. Rather than chase engine cylinders, Volvo built its entire range around 2.0-litre four-cylinder units and put the effort into the cabin, the seats and the safety systems.
The T8 Recharge pairs a turbocharged and supercharged 2.0-litre four with an electric motor on the rear axle for 455 PS and 709 Nm combined, plus meaningful electric-only range. Because the electric motor drives the rear wheels only, the car is all-wheel drive without a propshaft.
The interior is the draw: Orrefors crystal gear selector, driftwood or open-pore veneer, Bowers and Wilkins audio with a tweeter-on-top design, and seven genuinely usable seats.
